Role: Chair of Board of Trustees
The Museum of Bath Stone was set up in 2012 to complete the legacy of the Combe Down Stone Mines Stabilisation Project. Its mission is to ensure that the history and significance of Combe Down stone is fully presented, including its role in the building of the World Heritage City of Bath with its magnificent Georgian architecture. It is also a vibrant community hub.
This is an exciting time for the museum as it works towards Museum Accreditation and looks to its next stage of development and growth. Our current Chair has successfully commenced this process. We are looking for someone who can continue this work and bring their own skills, knowledge and passion to lead the Board and the Museum in developing its new strategy.
We are aided by the Combe Down Heritage Trust who hold the collection.
Currently, board meetings are held in the evenings every 6-8 weeks with 2 or 3 longer strategy meetings a year.
This is an unpaid volunteer post although out-of-pocket expenses will be paid.
